Gallia County Local Schools provides students in grades K-12 with numerous technology tools to enhance their learning experience.

All students have access to computers with Internet access in their classrooms as well as computer labs located in each building within the district.  Gallia County Local Schools now boasts well over 1,200 computers for student use.  The fall of 2009 will see students in every building having access to wireless technology with the integration of portable laptop computers in carts, or COWS (computers on wheels).  Staff members will have the ability to move these portable laptops from classroom to classroom and enhancing students' access to internet-based programs.

GCLS  provides students with access to World Book Online  and Study Island (grades 2-12).  These two online resources are great avenues for gathering information and serving as an intervention tool for students, respectively.

Students in grades K-8 are receiving grade cards that reflect the district's and state's academic content standards for the respective subjects.  WebGrader  has enabled teachers and parents to more effectively track the academic progress of our K-8 student population.

In an effort to assist students with their math and reading proficiency, GCLS provides students with access to Headsprout (grades K-3), Scholastic Reading Counts or Accelerated Reader (grades K-8), Academy of Math and Academy of Reading (grades K-12) and Read 180 (grades K-12).

The fall of 2005 saw the launch of Gallia County Local’s new and improved web site.  Within just a few short months the web site grew in popularity and within the first year received an average of over 7,000 hits per day.  Last school year the website had an amazing 6.8 million visitors, or an average of over 22,000 hits per day! Today's updated webpage now contains many features that will provide visitors with easier access to more information about Gallia County Local Schools than ever before.

We will continue to strive to provide our students and staff with state-of-the-art technology.  Feel free to visit our schools and witness for yourself how we are preparing today's students for tomorrow's world!
