Principal's Message

Welcome to River Valley Middle School!

Our vision at RVMS is that we will strive to provide inspiration, motivation, and education in a safe, supporting, and rigorous learning environment while empowering students to become productive and responsible citizens.  It is our hope that by working together, we can better meet the needs of all our students, supporting them to become the  best version of themselves as they grow academically and prepare for a successful future.

We encourage our students, parents, families, community, and business friends to regularly check our RVMS PTO Facebook page for postings regarding school information and updates.  Additionally, we will be utilizing the “schoolpointe” app to post school information.  Your support and involvement is both welcome and appreciated!  Should you be interested in becoming actively involved in supporting our school, a couple ways to do that is to join our RVMS PTO and/or our Athletic Boosters.  We are always looking for people to join our team!

Good communication is important for teams to achieve success.  As a part of our valued RVMS Team, you are encouraged to communicate regularly with us.  Please keep us informed of information you feel would help us support your student(s).  You may choose to communicate with us via email, phone call, or in-person visits.  We welcome the opportunity to partner with you as we work to provide the best academic experience possible to our students.

The first day of School for students for the 2022-2023 school year is August 24.

For your convenience, the following procedures will be followed for the RVMS School Day:

Parents may drop off students starting at 7:15 am.  Please use the first lane marked Student Drop Off,  drive around to the side entrance at the corner of the building.  Students should exit vehicles at that point, and are to enter through the front of the building where the flag pole is located.

VERY IMPORTANT:  Do not park or drop off in the front of the building.  This is the Bus Drop Off Zone .  Students will be coming off of several buses at one time.  Parents and visitors should use the parking lot located at the side of the building in the morning, if they need to park.

Each morning, Sixth grade students report to the cafeteria upon arrival, and will have breakfast.  7th and 8th grade students will report to the gym for breakfast.  Students who are riding a school bus will  enter the school at the front entrance and report to their grade level area for breakfast.

Classes begin at 7:45 a.m.

The end of the school day is 2:30 p.m.

Students who are car “pick-up” will be dismissed between 2:30 and 2:35 p.m. Parents picking up students will need to drive around to the car student Drop Off area.  Parents will be given a number at our Open House (on Aug. 23rd @ 4:00-7:00),  or a staff member on duty will give you a student number for pick up.  Should you need to add your student to the list for car pick up, please contact the RVMS Office by 2:00 p.m.  PLEASE NOTE:  RVMS Students are not allowed to leave with any High School student at the end of the day without a written note and confirmed with a parent.  Anyone who is picking up a student MUST BE ON THE STUDENT’S YELLOW CARD.

For additional information please contact the River Valley Middle School Office at 740-446-8399.

It is both a privilege and an honor to be your River Valley Middle School Principal.

I look forward to working with you and your child!
