As we begin the 2022-23 school year, there’s much to be excited about. First, COVID seems to be more manageable and hopefully will be less disruptive to our students and staff. Should cases increase, we will be following the guidance of the Ohio Department of Health and our local health department. We do have several new employees across our district. Our last count was 29 new people. These new employees, along with an existing great staff, will prove to be excellent role models for our students and maximize their potential. We continue to focus on the growth of our students and are determined to see that academic growth leads to high achievement for our district. Our new reading program and expectations did produce increases in student achievement on the state report card in its first year of implementation. We expect it to have an even greater impact in year two. Our goals for the district remain the same which are increasing progress in reading and math and adding to our overall culture. We are also continuing to plan for our upcoming building projects. To begin, we plan to add a 5th grade addition to the current River Valley Middle School. This will address the overcrowding issues we currently have at Vinton and Addaville Elementary. Great things are happening in the Gallia Co. schools as we continue to make positive change and work toward providing the best opportunities for our kids.
